Lawrenceville – The Sunbelt League has agreed to a partnership with TrackMan to install four stadium unit systems throughout the league’s venues. The facilities that will be getting the systems are going to be Reinhardt University (home of the Wild Things), Georgia State University (home of the Patriots), Golden Park (home of the Chatt-A-Hoots) and Kennesaw State University (home of the Crackers). Along with the four stadium units, the Sunbelt League will be getting one portable unit that gives flexibility to go on the road with a TrackMan device.
TrackMan is known as the premier technology used across all Major League and Minor League Baseball teams in the United States for player evaluation, development, and a handful of other purposes. The Denmark based company is widely described as the industry leader in capturing the most accurate ball flight data and is set to propel the Sunbelt League’s vision of expediting the development process for each player in the league. Along with an aid in player development, this deal will provide Major League scouting departments with even more access to player data than ever before.
This technology will bode usage for pitchers and hitters across the league. Pitchers are going to be able to receive data on metrics such as: spin rate, spin axis, release height/side, vertical break, horizontal break, and much more. Hitters will be privy to having exit velocity, spin rate, contact point, launch angle, launch direction, and distance at their disposal.
The push back of the MLB Draft changes the landscape of collegiate summer baseball leagues and puts a spotlight on many of the athletes across the country in various leagues. The Sunbelt’s platform of showcasing some of the top talent in the country mixed with the heightened importance of a tool like TrackMan is going to be pivotal in assisting players with the opportunity to be noticed by MLB scouts.
